The new one year Advanced Certificate in Eco-Tourism is Sacred Heart College's most exciting new program. Eco-Tourism is the fastest growing sector of the global tourism industry, and the Belizean economy. Sacred Heart's Eco-Tourism Certificate provides a unique set of training that combines Tourism management and Natural Resource Management. Students graduating from this program are well better prepared to not only work in adventure and eco-tourism, but actively educate their clients and the world about Belize's environment and rich natural heritage.

Over the course of two regular semesters, students take only Tourism and Natural Resource Management courses, followed by two exciting summer courses; a capstone course ECOT 2093 supervised by the department chairman; and our flagship course, NRMP 2093 Wilderness Survival and First Aide.

Certificate students benefit from being in the classroom with traditional tourism and natural resource management majors, but with none of the general education courses required for the associate degree programs like math and English. Rather, students entire focus is on their chosen profession, and as a result, students graduate faster and with less hassle.
