Pre-College English 1

Students who have earned less than 30/50 in Part I and less than 30/50 on the SHJC’s
placement examination have been placed in this course. This course is designed to ensure that
students receive the support and individual guidance in reading and writing. In this course,
students will develop an acceptable level of proficiency in the five basic language skills
(reading, writing, speaking, listening and viewing). Students will be required to speak and
write in Standard English.
