Accounting

Program Mission:

The Associates in Accounting degree program aims to provide students with the knowledge of current accounting theories and practices, general business concepts, global business issues, and technology-based applications with an emphasis on ethical responsibilities to prepare them for higher-level education and successful accounting careers in the public and private sector within their respective communities.

Program Vision:

Our vision is to produce a higher level of professional accountants that will adhere to and preserve the highest standard of integrity and competence in the accounting profession in Belize. 

Program Goals:

Provide professional training for students to develop professional skills and competencies in the following areas of professional practice:

  • Application of the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in preparing financial reports for for-profit and not-for-profit institutions.
  • Promotion and utilization of technology-based (accounting software) accounting to improve the quality of financial reports
  • Analysis of financial transactions and reports in identifying possible fraud in organizations.
  • Application of tax laws and regulations in the country of Belize.
  • Demonstrate positive attitudes, strong moral and ethical values and principles in professionalism, work ethics, and commitment to lifelong learning.
