Course Description
This course introduces students to the taxonomy of the plant kingdom, anatomy and physiology of plants, as well as the basic concepts of plant histology. The course includes a study of the morphology and biology of algae, fungi, mosses, and ferns. It emphasizes the vegetative and reproductive structures of gymnosperms and angiosperms. Ecological and evolutionary concepts of plant populations are also considered. Belizean flora is studied, and field trips are scheduled to national parks and reserves.
