Course themes include principles of physical geology, chemical geology and biological processes that together influence the geologic evolution of the Earth’s landscapes and composition. NRMP2301 covers the geologic time scale, the rock cycle, common rock forming minerals and their properties; identification of rocks and minerals; different geologic environments and plate tectonics. Major Areas of study include, volcanism, weathering and erosion, creation of mountainous landscapes and deep ocean basins, seas floor spreading, and the processes involved in the gradual accumulation/formation of natural resources.
