Course Description
Protected Areas Management is a professional course for Natural Resource Management majors. This course provides students with information pertaining to environmental threats and the importance of establishing various types of protected areas. Students will be introduced to concepts, techniques, and guidelines critical for effective protected areas management. This course includes legislative and institutional support in protected areas management and its cross sectorial linkages both in Belize and abroad. Planning for protected areas management will be a core component of this course, especially the participatory approach. In addition, tools and techniques for implementing protected area management will also be emphasized. Research and Monitoring will be a major component of this course as it is an important tool to ensure sustainability and the effectiveness of conservation.
