Course Description
TOUR2022 will address a fast-growing segment in the hospitality industry. It is designed to prepare students for entry level employment in events planning and or meeting management. The content will include the principles and practices of sound public relations, planning , organizing and executing events, meetings, conferences or conventions. It will prepare students for employment opportunities with trade, professional associations as well as non profit organizations. Topics in this course will include career preparation standards, basic academic and communication skills required, problem solving skills, workplace safety, technology, marketing , financing and employment literacy. Students will be required to examine the selection of sites, transportation, food and beverage planning, social functions, publicity and audio –visual requirements. This course requires students to develop and present a major project that must detail the planning and management of an event from conception to fulfilment.
