First ever Graphic Design Certificate at SHJC

During the summer, the first ever Introduction to Graphic Design Certificate was offered at Sacred Heart Junior College. The certificate was provided by Charleston Southern University in collaboration with SHJC. For 2 weeks, students learned the basics of using 3 graphic designing softwares. The softwares used were Adobe Indesign, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop. Students were thought the basics on using the software and then given a final project that consisted in creating a logo for a business.

Students had to gather ideas of what their logo would be, do sketches of the ideas they had about their logo and then do the logo in Adobe Illustrator. Using Indesign, students had to document all logo ideas, sketches, different designs of their logo, black and white version of their logo and use their logo on a flyer, social media post and business card.

On July 5th, 25 students successfully completed the Introduction to Graphic Design Certificate.
